Programs Being Offered
- BS Cyber Security
Scope of BS Cyber Security
Given society’s increasing dependence on the global cyber infrastructure, it is no surprise that cyber security is emerging as an identifiable discipline with a breadth and depth of content that encompasses many of the subfields (e.g., software development, networking, database management) that form the modern computing ecosystem. Underlying this emergence is the need to prepare specialists across a range of work roles for the complexities associated with assuring the security of system operations from a holistic view. Assuring secure operations involve the creation, operation, defence, analysis, and testing of secure computer systems. While cyber security is an interdisciplinary course of study including aspects of law, policy, human factors, ethics, and risk management, it is fundamentally a computing-based discipline. The academic programs in cyber security are both informed by the interdisciplinary content and driven by the needs and perspectives of the computing discipline that forms the programmatic foundation. The breadth and strong practical emphasis of the program will prepare graduates for careers in Cyber Security and aligned fields such as information systems, databases, networks, information security, IT security consultation, enterprise-wide security solutions and in a wide range of positions in business, government and industry. The students may pursue their higher studies to enhance their knowledge to contribute for the academia or industry.
