One day International Symposium on “Sustainable Agriculture on Problematic Soil in Southern Punjab”
deptartment of agricultural engineering, oric & qec-kfueit jointly organized one day international symposium on “sustainable agriculture on problematic soil in southern punjab” on 30 april 2019.
- the symposium started with the recitation of holy quran and naat e rasool (pbuh).
- engr. dr. yasir niaz (head, department of agricultural engineering kfueit) warmly welcomed the honorable international speaker/guests and national participants.
- prof. dr. abderazak bannari (university of ottawa, canada) discussed about the mapping of salinity of soil by using gis and remote sensing. he outlined how the satellite technology can addresses the problematic soils of any region especially the saline soils of pakistan.
- prof. dr. erdogan hakki and prof. dr. mehmet hamurcu from selcuk university, turkey also discussed their ongoing research projects related to different soil problems in different regions of the world like uae, iraq etc. they described the effect of plant micronutrition deficiencies and their effect on the crop yield. they offered their participation and expertise to solve the soil problems of the southern punjab. future projects related to soil and water problems were also discussed during the sessions.
- dr. shabir shahid talked about his experience and expertise in the field of soil sciences. he also offered his services to the university to solve the water and soil problems of the rahim yar khan.
- worthy vice chancellor engr. prof. dr. athar mahboob (ti) concluded the symposium sessions with his closing remarks and thanks to the foreign delegates for their very informative research presentations. he also appreciated the efforts of engr. dr. yasir niaz (head department of agricultural engineering kfueit) and his team for the arrangement of this successful research sharing event and promised his support for the future similar events.
