Official Visit of Chairman HEC to KFUEIT: Strengthening Research, Innovation, and Sustainability

The visit of Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar (Sitara-i-Imtiaz), Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, to Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information Technology (KFUEIT) on April 24, 2026, marked a significant milestone in the university's journey toward academic excellence. The Chairman was received with a warm and cordial welcome by Vice Chancellor Prof. Ir. Dr. Amir Azam Khan, Registrar Engr. Prof. Dr. Javed Iqbal, and senior faculty members, symbolizing the university’s honor in hosting such distinguished leadership.

During his visit, the Chairman inaugurated two pioneering research facilities: the Khwaja Fareed Environmental Testing Laboratories, which is the first EPA-certified facility of its kind in South Punjab, and the Center for Insect Farming and Entomological Entrepreneurship (CIFEE). These facilities are designed to address environmental challenges through accurate testing and promote sustainable agriculture through innovative research on alternative protein sources.

The visit also included a comprehensive tour of the university's modern infrastructure, where the Chairman inspected advanced engineering workshops, IT labs, and research centers. He delivered an inspiring lecture to the faculty, emphasizing the transformative role of universities in national development and the importance of aligning with global trends in emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, and Robotics. Furthermore, the Chairman participated in a tree plantation ceremony to reaffirm the university's commitment to environmental sustainability and engaged with the media to highlight the critical role of higher education in driving innovation and research across Pakistan.
