Rahim Yar Khan, October 11, 2024 – Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT) organized a special seminar in observance of the International Day of the Girl Child. The event, held under the Directorate of Student Affairs, featured Dr. M. Anwar Farooq, Director of the Institute of Humanities and Arts, as the guest speaker.
In his address, Dr. Anwar Farooq highlighted key issues impacting girls around the world, focusing on three main topics: the importance of education, healthcare, and protection from violence and exploitation. “Education is the key to unlocking the potential of girls and creating a more equitable society,” said Dr. Farooq, urging students and faculty to advocate for quality education for girls everywhere. He also emphasized the need for accessible healthcare, stating, “Girls must have access to healthcare services that ensure their physical and mental well-being.” Finally, he discussed the urgent need for stronger measures to protect girls from violence and exploitation, adding, “We must create safe environments where girls can grow up without fear of harm.”
Vice Chancellor Prof. Ir. Dr. Amir Azam Khan, in his remarks, reaffirmed KFUEIT's commitment to societal progress. "At KFUEIT, we believe in nurturing an inclusive environment where every individual, regardless of gender, can achieve their full potential. Our institution stands firmly with initiatives that uplift and empower girls and women,” he stated.
The seminar aimed to raise awareness among students and faculty, inspiring them to become advocates for gender equality and the rights of girls in society.
