Emerson University Multan Hosts Seminar on Ethical Values in Modern Professions

Multan: Emerson University Multan organized a one-day session on the significance of ethical values in contemporary professional practices and industries. The event featured Prof. Dr. Amir Azam Khan, Vice Chancellor of Khawaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology, as the chief guest. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ramzan, Vice Chancellor of Emerson University Multan, welcomed the distinguished guest and emphasized the importance of ethical principles in professional growth and societal development.  Faculty members and academic staff attended the session, engaging in discussions on ethical dilemmas, integrity, and responsible professional conduct. Dr. Nadir Magsi, Director ORIC, played a key role as the stage secretary and organizer, ensuring the smooth execution of the event. In his keynote address, Prof. Dr. Amir Azam Khan highlighted the fundamental role of ethics in every profession. “Ethical conduct is a crucial pillar for success in any field,” he stated. “Regardless of profession, adhering to ethical principles enhances credibility and increases the chances of long-term success.” He identified common ethical challenges such as conflicts of interest, plagiarism, invasion of privacy, bias, and commitment to accuracy, urging professionals to navigate these issues through legal frameworks and ethical self-assessment methods like the "sleep test." Discussing whistleblowing, he explained how individuals sometimes expose significant moral concerns by bypassing internal grievance mechanisms. Citing examples such as Julian Assange, Edward Snowden, WikiLeaks, and the Panama Papers, he illustrated the global impact of ethical breaches and disclosures. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ramzan, in his concluding remarks, expressed gratitude to the chief guest and shared his insights on ethical values in various organizations. He emphasized the importance of mutual collaboration and individual responsibility in fostering ethical practices. “Promoting peace, tolerance, and respect for privacy are essential elements of professional integrity,” he noted. “Unethical practices act as barriers to success and must be eradicated to create a more just and transparent society.” The session provided valuable perspectives on ethical conduct, encouraging professionals and academics to uphold integrity in their respective fields.
