2nd Annual Pink Day Observed at KFUEIT
kfueit observed 14th november as breast cancer awareness day and organized a seminar in collaboration with the oncology department of shielkh zayed medical college & hospital and the higher education commission pakistan in the beautiful front lawns of kfueit.
the hod oncology department, assistant professor dr. sajid ghafoor from szmc&h was the chief guest and the speaker of the seminar. because of having past experience in shoukat khanam memorial hospital & research center he had hefty cancer related data of past 10 years to share with the audience. he shared with the audience very informative and eye opening facts about pink ribbon and breast cancer. he specifically talked about pakistani women and stressed that since the issue is not brought up openly, many women reach stage 3rd and 4th of breast cancer which increases the number of deaths from it.
the seminar was organized for female students and faculty members of kfueit. family members of faculty were also invited. mrs. rabia athar mahboob graced the event as guest of honor with her cheerful and lively presence. two real life breast cancer survivors ms. tehseen munawar and ms. saima rasheed also shared their experiences with female students and staff to make them aware of the disease and symptoms related to it. president organizing body ms. humaira anwer, concluded the seminar and commended the efforts of the organizers.
students later on made a huge human pink ribbon in the lawns of kfueit and a wall of helping hands to show support, to honor and to commemorate the efforts of mothers, sisters and daughters.
members of kfueit pink warriors' club also sold different souvenirs regarding the campaign. students displayed different stalls of eatables and other goodies as well. bake stall, photo booth, breast cancer awareness stalls were separately set up by the kfueit pink warriors' club. we are really thankful for the cake sponsored by cafe debono rahim yar khan. kfueit pwc pays its tribute to kf-united welfare society for their services.
the event was concluded with a powerful live performance by awaax live. the event proved to be a milestone in creating awareness about a very serious but neglected issue."
