Research Interests

Name of Research group: Dairy and Meat group

  • My research emphasis is on Dairy Processing and Food Safety to ensure the provision of Safe, Nutritious and Wholesome Food to the masses. Focused on advances in dairy technology, development and modifications in existing dairy products to form functional value-added products and development of fermented dairy products.  
  • Testing of milk and milk products to control milk safety risks throughout the dairy supply chain. Advance testing kits and green Nano measures has been adopted to effectively measure and control milk adulteration to ensure milk safety.

Current Research themes

  • Efforts are made to identify variant adulterants by using natural extracts to shift from chemical testing to green methods for detection of milk adulteration in efficient manner to ensure milk safety
  • Green synthesis of Se nanoparticles using Allium Stavium extract to detect milk adulteration   

Future Research planned

  • Advance Nano based sensors/measures are being adopted to test variant milk adulterants.

 

Biography

  • Adnan Khaliq is currently working as Assistant Professor at Department of Food Science & Technology, Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT), Rahim Yar Khan. He also worked as HOD/ Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in Institute of Human Nutrition and Dietetics and visiting Faculty in NUR International University, Lahore. He completed his Ph.D. Food Technology from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad and also worked in Department of Food Science, Nelson Hall, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN-USA. He worked in domains of Food and Dairy Technology during his doctoral study, Explored and characterized the health potential of camel milk and product development. He also examined the anti-diabetic potential of camel milk yogurt against diabetes. A number of publications are to his credit in reputed National and International journals. He also served as teaching assistant in University of Agriculture, Faisalabad and also worked in Micronutrient Initiative research project for Wheat flour and edible Oil fortification. He has participated in many national & International Conferences, Symposia, workshops, seminars. His areas of expertise comprise of Food & Nutrition, Food Safety and Quality Assurance, Food Processing and Preservation, value addition and Research Methodology.

Awards and Honors

  • Got 1st Prize (Certificate and 75,000 Pkr) in Nationwide Innovation and    Entrepreneurship Exhibition and Mega Event Dice Invent 2014 held on 19-20th December at IBA Main Campus Karachi Pakistan.
  • IRSIP Scholarship to Visit Purdue University, Indiana, USA (2016-2017)
