Dr. Muhammad Farhan Jahangir Chughtai

I am currently serving as Additional Director and Associate Professor at the Institute of Food Science & Technology, Faculty of Food, Health Science, and Technology, Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology. I hold a Ph.D. in Food Technology from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, awarded under the HEC Indigenous Scholarship program. My doctoral research focused on the characterization and evaluation of Stevia rebaudiana as a natural sweetener, particularly its potential role in the management of diabetes and hypercholesterolemia.
I was privileged to serve as a Visiting Scholar at the Agricultural & Biological Engineering (ABE) Department, Bindley Bioscience Center, Discovery Park, Purdue University, under the IRSIP scholarship funded by HEC-ISB.
Previously, I served as an Assistant Professor at NUR International University and as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Nutritional Sciences, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences at Fatima Memorial Hospital. I also worked as a Research Associate on an HEC-funded research project at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad for two years and as a Teaching Assistant for six months.
Throughout my academic career, I have actively contributed to the organization and participation of numerous national and international conferences, symposia, workshops, seminars, training programs, and webinars, reflecting my continued commitment to academic excellence, collaborative research, and professional development.

My research is centered on advancing Food Safety and Quality to ensure the availability of nutritious, wholesome foods and to help reduce the burden of diet-related diseases. My scholarly work encompasses a broad range of interdisciplinary areas, including Cereal Science and Technology; Baking Science and Technology; Natural Flavors, Sweeteners, and Antioxidants; Food Analysis and Food Chemistry; Nutraceuticals and Functional Foods; Food Encapsulation; Human Nutrition and Dietetics; Food Processing and Preservation; Food Fortification; Meat Technology; Spices and Value-Added Products; and Food Packaging.
Through these focus areas, I aim to contribute to innovative, evidence-based solutions that enhance food quality, safety, and public health outcomes.
