Research Interests

My research is primarily focused on the exposure control of spectral cameras. Spectral cameras capture scene information across wide range of spectral channels which are useful in applications related to object detection, and classification. I have successfully applied exposure control techniques for multispectral cameras with multiple CCDs like FluxData, and hyperspectral cameras with liquid crystal tunable filters like OKSI. I have also worked on developing efficient techniques to estimate the camera response functions and radiance maps, these techniques are found helpful in high dynamic range imaging, and exposure control required for it.

I have founded the Advanced Image Processing Research Lab at KFUEIT, which hosts latest Hyperspectral Imaging Sensors. Since 2018, keeping in view the regional needs of Pakistan, I have been working on developing applications of hyperspectral Imaging in Forensics, Security, and Food safety, including meat products, bakery products, and red chili powder.

Biography

I am working as an Associate Professor, Director of Institute of Computer and Software Engineering at Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology, Pakistan. I have obtained my Ph.D. Degree from the Australian National University (ANU) and National ICT Australia (NICTA) , now Data61 at CSIRO, Australia. My research interests revolve around Spectral Imaging systems and their applications. I have done graduate course work from National University of Singapore (NUS) at Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NUS. I have earned my BS in Computer System Engineering from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Pakistan with a Gold Medal. My PhD work has been patented and is being used in exposure control of Spectral Cameras.
