Faculty Profile

Dr. Maqbool Ahmed
Lecturer
PhD (Botany), Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB)

Dr. Maqbool Ahmed is a Lecturer in Botany at the Department of Life Sciences, Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information Technology (KFUEIT), Rahim Yar Khan. He holds a PhD in Botany from The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, where he completed his thesis titled "Phytosociological Assessments and The Relative Impact of Conservation Practices in Cholistan Desert, Pakistan". His doctoral expertise focuses on conservation biology in arid ecosystems, specifically regarding vegetation management, restoration, and the evaluation of protection status impacts on native flora.

His broader research interests center on the morpho-agronomic and biochemical responses of desert grass species under salt stress. Dr. Ahmed integrates these traditional ecological studies with modern technical tools, being familiar with R, Python, QGIS, and Google Earth Engine.

Prior to his current appointment, Dr. Ahmed served as a Research Associate at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur on the HEC project "Evaluation of Salt Tolerance and Forage Nutritional Potential of Some Desert Grass Species Under High Salinities". He has published work in recognized peer-reviewed journals, including the Polish Journal of Environmental Studies, and is a reviewer for well-reputed journals. Beyond research, he is dedicated to community engagement and digital education, actively creating educational biological content for platforms like YouTube and social media.
