On November 3, 2026, the Department of Agricultural Engineering at Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering & Information Technology (KFUEIT), in collaboration with EFert Quality Assurance Laboratory, Engro Fertilizers Limited, successfully organized a collaborative awareness session titled “Sustainable Winters: From Smog Awareness to Eco-Friendly Practices.”
The session was held at CIBIK Hall, Department of Agricultural Engineering, KFUEIT, Rahim Yar Khan, with the aim of addressing regional environmental challenges, raising awareness about smog, and promoting practical and sustainable solutions.
The session was organized by Dr. Adnan Noor Shah and featured valuable industry insights from EFert resource persons Muhammad Zain Rauf (Quality Manager, EFert QAL, RYK) and Abdul Basit (Associate Quality, EFert QAL, RYK).
The academic perspectives were presented by distinguished faculty members of KFUEIT, including Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Dr. Basharat Ali, Dr. Habib Ali, Dr. Muhammad Javed, and Dr. Iftekhar Ahmad from the Department of Agricultural Engineering, along with Dr. Awais Muneer from the Department of Environmental Sciences.
The discussion focused on bridging corporate sustainability with agricultural innovation through several key themes:
🔹 Analysis of real-time Air Quality Index (AQI) trends and their environmental implications.
🔹 Understanding the atmospheric chemistry behind particulate matter formation and accumulation.
🔹 Exploring industrial Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols to minimize emissions and promote cleaner operations.
🔹 Promoting eco-friendly agricultural practices, particularly mechanized crop residue management as a sustainable alternative to traditional stubble burning.
The collaborative session provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange between academia and industry, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility, technological innovation, and sustainable agricultural practices in combating smog and protecting the environment.
Together, let us work towards cleaner air, sustainable agriculture, and healthier winters! 🌱
